l live up in the Twin Cities and am looking at an 04 Infiniti G35.l found one with 40k miles and it is a steal for the price. The dilemna I am having is that it is a Rear Wheel Drive vehicle and l live in a state that has a lot of snow, ice, etc.l am aware that there is a G35X that is AWD, but have not seen one close to the price of this car.The car is beautiful, but I am really apprehensive as l do not have any experience with a RWD vehicle.l know the whole sandbags in the trunk thing, but can anyone give some advice that has or has driven a RWD vehicle where it snows a lot in the winter?l see many, many, BMW's, Infiniti's, etc up here driving around in the winter, but was just curious as to how difficult it is and if it is worth going after this car.

Thanks in advance

So long as u r careful then u will be fine ,i have been running RWD cars for years & blimey it snows every year & is very wet here alot which makes it slippery.
Just be careful when setting off from stand still & on corners & allow extra braking time,to be honest the same rules in a FWD car.
As u said yourself many many people drive round in RWD cars through the Winter months, without no problems & at the end of the day u could have an accident in a RWD AWD car they dont make u invincible in bad weather.
You will be fine & if the weather is that bad out there on a bad day, l wouldnt take any drive car out.

Just dont do what l did at the lights in the wet l was side by side with another car reving up,but when the lights changed l floored my old R32 only to be left sitting there spinning & snaking on the spot,i lost but got some great cheers from folks walking by thinking it was all a display.

ok, l drove a lincoln towncar last winter, and let me tell you, those and mustang are the worst, also l drove my moms roadmaster wagons, l was raised driving RWD cars, where l am, it doesnt snow a lot, but durring the winter, there is always snow on the roads, just not piles, and let me tell you, as long as you go nice and slow and take your time, you will be FINE!, theres nothing to it, PLUS there a lot of fun in empty parking lots.

l am in the Twin Cities too, & have driven several RWD cars in the winter, including a '70 AMX (more power, lots more torque & less weight than a G35).

Take it easy, relax, steer, brake & accelerate in ssssllllllooooowwwwww motion. Be very smooth, & u will not have any problems.

A limited slip differential (lsd) improves control on slippy roads, but a car with a lsd will start to slip on corners before one without. After both r sliding, the one with lsd is much easier to control.

It is worth while to take the car to a large empty lot, & just slide it around a bit, so that u know what it does. That way u will not be surprised, & u will know what to do from experience.

The G35 has traction control, so you will be alright. Make sure you run winter snow tires during the winter season. Just drive smart and you will be fine. l took my Mountaineer 2WD to Utah in the dead of winter last year and it did fine, plus l do not have traction control of any kind.

aaaa..RWD have more chances of skidding in snow because my bro own a caddilac SRX and it kinda skids on road when turning and a bit chance of stucking when their is alot of snow on the driveway!!
but l really like the RWD.they are really nice to drive but really in snow untill u drive carefull...if u drive carefull then its not even a problem for u!!!!!!

Yes, the G has traction control, but it assists you..it does not save your ass all the time. Just be careful, more space between driving allowing for more breaking time as you would a fwd car. Buy winter tires if you're worried, they really help.

You'd think the argument of front-wheel drive versus rear-wheel drive configuration is pretty much a no-brainer, right? After all, any car freak worth the octane in his gas tank will tell u that RWD is the ride of auto enthusiasts. Or is it? A recent conversation with Turn 10 is content coordinator & resident rally race driver, Roger Jackman, has inspired us to revisit the age-old automotive question -- which is better: RWD or FWD? Although there probably is not a definitive answer, it is a topic worth some exploration. Do u prefer FWD or RWD (or even AWD) vehicles in the game?

l had RWD and FWD, but AWD with ABS and Traction Control is the way to go for all weather. No question ask !

l had a Chevy Astro AWD with ABS (no traction control on this one). That thing was like Jeep while l was in Colorado Springs in the winter. l tried too make dougnuts on a icy patch and l could not do it, no matter how hard l turned the steering wheel and floored the 4.3 210 hp Vortec that came with it.

l have a 2003 Infiniti G35 and live in Ohio where we can have a fair amount of snow. l really had problems with the rw drive last year, basically because of the ice layer under the snow, which was about 5-8 inches. If you really like the car and the snow problem is only for 3-4 months l would say to buy it. It is really fun to drive when it is dry out, that makes up for the snowy months. But also be careful of the slick roads when it rains. The car can hydroplane easily.
