I am about to buy a G35 Coupe 05 model. It only has 13,000 miles, kind of suspicious for a car like this, it is not like it is a ferrari or lamborghini where they would drive only a few thousand a year, this is a normal car. This car is being offereda mazda dealership for only $22,000. l read on edmunds article ''Confession of a carsalesman'' (weird title) but it said that there was a guy he saw they called ''Speedometer shorty'' who would roll back the meter on cars that were on the lot.

Is there anyway l can check if the odo was rolled back. The carfax is clean but dealerships can do it without informing anyone can not they. Is there any obvious signs of rollbacks on the car?
yea the carfax says no odometer changes, but also the only 2 reports on there is when the original owner bought it46 miles, and when the car was bought by dealership13000 miles. the reader is digital.

The carfax should have some odometer info on it as far as miles when it was traded and such. Odometer fraud is a lot harder on newer cars does it have a digital display? You do get a few cars like that. l saw an 89 ford truck with 7800 miles on it just the other day and he has the inspection report on it from where it was checked out every year.

If u have emission testing where u r at, the paperwork for the emission testing will have the mileage on the form.
You can not disconnect the odometer & drive a G35 without throwing all sorts of codes. The cruise control, wheel speed sensors, ABS, etc. all wo not work. Check the tires they should be good up to 40,000 miles. At 13,000 miles a tire depth gauge should read around 8/32''. Original brakes should be at 65% remaining. Listen for a Squeak in the front suspension which would be the compression arms rusted to the mounting studs, a common problem which warranty covers.

l think its accurate cause if it was not they would not roll it back that far. Yeah there r some people that drive there cars with the odo disconnected, l remember one time l was painting the dash on my f150 so l had to disconnect the odo & l tried to turn the truck but it would not start l was forced to finish in one day. Anyway u need to ask them where they bought the car or what city so u can call the dealers in that area & give them the VIN # so they can tell u how many miles it had when it went in for service

the carfax should have the odometer for the info from the car.
