l have a 1994 Infiniti q45 with 175,000 miles and a bad injector. I am wondering if its worth paying $800 plus to get it fixed, if its going to die on me soon anyway. l take pretty good care of the car but l commute 80 miles two days a week and I am not sure how much more mileage it can handle or how much longer it will last me. Any advice?

That is not that high of mileage on that car. If all it needs is an injector, check on ebay and see if there is one there cheap and change it yourself and ave big bucks.

175,000 miles or 281,000 kilometers well any engine has a life of 300.000 to 350.000 kilometers so.. not to be the bad news but your car is $1.100-$4,000 on autotrader but if your auto has the 4wheel steer l might make the exception

Well, l am sure that the car still drives decent & looks fine, but it may not be the most reliable car considering its age & mileage. Still, the price to repair sounds awefully high, I'd get a second quote from an non-Infiniti dealer. Since u only drive twice a week it will probably last u a few years with less then $1000 a year in maintainence. The problem with an old car is it could quickly have many more problems or keep going with only minimal repairs for years.but then with all the money u save over a new car (a Infiniti G35 with 5 yr loan would cost u $600 a month.compare that to ur $800 repair!) u can easily afford to fix it or simply scrap it.its a win-win situation so go ahead & get it fixed, when the transmission or gaskets go then its time to bury it.

A properly maintained post-plastic guide VH45DE is probably the most reliable engine u could ever have. l fell in love with my '94 Q instantly. That engine, specifically, is built for power & longevity. It has been proven that u can run a significant amount of boost in her without changing her internals out. In fact, her internals r stronger than any third party action u may find. Even with it is crappy ratio transmission, she puts the power down well. Engine life directly corresponds with owner care. There is a wealth of information contained in these sites, that will make ur Inifiniti experience a pleasurable one. Q45.org has detailed instructions on how to replace many of the car is components yourself, & NICOClub has a forum for all Nissan & Infiniti cars with a great community of actual Infiniti techs & amateur mechanics. l put the links in the source field below.

Also, if u keep her in great shape, u can squeeze a significant amount of fuel milage out of her.

If l were you l would pay to repair the car, proper maintenance and you will ahve that car many more yrs to come. l commute 400 miles per week in my BMW and wouldnt trade it on anything.. maintenance is the key. l ahve seen Infiniti is here in Texas that have well over 200,000 miles on them and are still going strong.
