l own a 04 g35 coupe and my power steering fluid level is at minimum when hot( when its hot) so l wanna add some fluid in there, but my question is..does it take a special fluid for it? like the transmission or the differential?
to beavanjb : no, when the engine is hot, the fluid is at the mark that says minimum when hot.

As with most such questions your answer can probably be found in your owners manual. It will tell you how much fluid, what type and when you should add it.

Are you saying it shows above the minimum when cold? You need to fill to somewhere (1/2 way) between minimum and maximum. You can buy power steering fluid at any auto parts store, grocery store, wal-mart.

We use Nissan p/s fluid at the Infiniti dealer l work at. l do not believe it is a special blend as in our a/t.
The p/s fluid level in the reservoir is set to the high hot level when at operating temperature ( 15 minutes drive time should do it ) & u do this with the engine OFF. While running I've seen the reservoir go down quite a bit, so l looked it up on our ESM.
If u get a noisy p/s pump, we found a bad high pressure line was to fault. Ya, we replaced the pump first, & I'd do it again.
If ur p/s system is working & there is no leak, l would not start messing with it.
